BONNIE CLAC

Bonnie CLAC is a nonprofit organization dedicated to making car ownership accessible and economical for people of all financial backgrounds. Since 2001, Bonnie CLAC has helped over 520 people in the states of New Hampshire and Vermont purchase automobiles, the majority of which are brand new, low-emission, and fuel-efficient vehicles.

The mission of the Child Advocacy Center is to protect children by providing a safe environment for the evaluation of child abuse and exploitation, coordinating services to victims and families and preventing future abuse through community education. Based on a nationally recognized program,the Child Advocacy Center now serves as the advocacy center model for the state.

Since 1967, Community Child Care Center has provided child care to generations of Seacoast children. The Center is open year round, serving almost 200 children ages 8 weeks to 12 years daily. The Center serves as an advocate and model for early learning programs across the state and and demonstrates expertise and commitment to serving families of all backgrounds for over 33 years.

Families First Health and Support Center, the Seacoasts community health center, provides a broad range of health and family support services to individuals and families, regardless of ability to pay. Services include affordable primary, prenatal and oral health care; parenting classes and support groups; family programs; one-on-one support for families facing particular challenges; and mobile health care for people who are homeless. Families First serves about 5,000 people each year.

Head Start is a comprehensive child development program that serves pre-school age children and their families through activities that help them grow mentally, socially, emotionally and physically.  A program of Rockingham Community Action, Head Start combines early education for Portsmouth children beginning at age 3 with health screenings, family and parenting support, and resource and referral to other community services.

InfoLink is a free information and referral program that provides information about community resources, social service agencies, support groups, affordable healthcare, housing, mental health, dental and much more. InfoLink serves Rockingham and Strafford counties in New Hampshire and southern York County in Maine. InfoLink also manages two prescription assistance programs for low-income adults.  Medical Financial Assistance provides free short-term emergency prescriptions and Portsmouth Regional Prescription Assistance partners with Portsmouth Regional Hospital and staff to access free prescriptions for long-term, chronic conditions.

In the last twelve months, New Heights provided healthy, fun activities for over 900 adolescents in the Seacoast area. The New Heights mission is to provide self-esteem enhancing programs that help youths make healthy choices and grow up strong and happy. New Heights operates summer adventure programs, an afterschool Teen Center, school-based outreach, intergenerational and family programs.

 

Portsmouth Early Education Program

The Portsmouth Early Education Program provides special education services to children 3-5 years of age who are identified as educationally disabled. PEEP also coordinates the
Community School, an inclusive preschool model for children that leverages the ability of special education staff to serve all children in classrooms, including those with and without special needs.

Seacoast Outright's mission is to help gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and questioning youth develop into healthy, caring, productive citizens. Seacoast Outright provides a safe place for youth to meet, so that they can socialize, free from harassment and discrimination, and have access to positive adult role models. Through support, affirmation, and accurate, Seacoast Outright fosters feelings of self-worth and dignity.

SteppingStones for people living with brain injury is a program that offers opportunities for friendship, recreation, training, volunteerism, and support for people living with a brain injury who have had medically intensive time at a hospital, some time in rehab, and are now living in the community. Members participate in skill-building activities and supportive group and individual meetings and social activities.
